Keyboard Games
Ages 4+ (14 classes)
Introduce your child to the world of piano and keyboard playing with our group piano classes. They'll explore piano fundamentals through joyful songs, improvisation, ensemble playing, and singing. Interactive learning in small groups makes it both fun and educational. Sessions are weekly for 45 minutes.

Away from the Piano

Listen to and sing contrasting songs in different tonalities (major or minor) and meters (duple or triple).

Listen to and chant rhythms in duple and triple meter.

Engage in movement activities to internalize the beat and rhythm.
Piano Song Preparation

Listen to a song from Keyboard Games A book.

Engage in various movement activities to better understand the pulse of the song.

Chant the rhythms of the song to reinforce understanding.

Look at the map of the piano song (visual guide) and consider the keys needed and finger placement.
At the Piano

Learn how to approach the keys and play with good posture.

Students take turns playing the song while others observe.

Encourage attentive listening and peer feedback.
Improvisation

Improvise a melody using ideas or rhythms from the learned song or those explored in class.

Explore freely while maintaining rhythmic patterns learned in class.

Experiment with different tempos and dynamics to add expression to the music.
