Curriculum

Our program is designed to give young beginners a strong musical foundation through engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction.

We offer two levels of group classes:

  • Keyboard Games (A & B) for ages 4-6

  • Music Moves for Piano (1 & 2) for ages 7 and up.

Each stage lasts approximately two years, guiding students through the natural progression of musical learning.

Keyboard Games A & B

Ages 4-6

Keyboard Games introduces young children to piano in a fun and interactive environment. At this stage, learning is primarily informal—students absorb music through singing, movement, rhythm activities, improvisation, and playing short piano pieces. They also learn about note parts and rhythm notation. Over two years, students gain confidence in their musical abilities and develop foundational piano skills.

Ages 7 and up

When students transition to Music Moves for Piano, they take a more formal approach that combines individual instruction with group learning.

In the private portion of the class, they focus on learning piano repertoire while refining their technique, developing independent playing skills, and building control, expression, and confidence at the keyboard.

In group class, they continue developing their musicianship through activities such as improvising and composing in different tonalities, transposing, harmonizing, and arranging, while also learning more complex rhythms and note reading as they recognize patterns and understand musical structure.
